Welcome to Churches Together in Essex and East London

Churches Together in Essex and East London is a partnership which brings together many of the major historic denominations as well as new and emerging churches that have worshipping communities within Essex and East London, including the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham, Havering, Newham, Redbridge and Waltham Forest. The current chair of CTEEL is Revd Anne Brown — Chair of the Beds, Essex and Herts Methodist distrcit.

Churches Together in Essex and East London (CTEEL) is the sponsoring body of a number of local ecumenical partnerships (LEPs) and supports a number of local ecumenical groups.

Visit of Zoughbi Zoughbi on 17th April:

Churches Together in Witham and District are hosting a visit from Zoughbi Zoughbi, a Palestinian Christian from Bethlehem who is founder and director of Wi’am, a reconciliation centre in Bethlehem. He is speaking about the Christian Presence in Israel/Palestine, Restorative Justice and Religious Extremism. For more information click here

General election prayer vigil:

A prayer vigil for the general election will be held on 30th April, 7.30 pm at Chelmsford Cathedral. Many of the senior church leaders in Essex will be attending and all are welcome to join this special event.

Bradwell Pilgrimage:

This year’s pilgrimage takes place on 4th July. The keynote speaker will be Canon Michael Mitton, an influential speaker and Christian author. Click here for more information.

An exciting major ecumenical conference on Church growth, run by Churches Together in Hertfordshire together with surrounding county ecumenical bodies, touching upon growth in all its dimensions — numerical, spiritual, pastoral, organizational, missional, theological and socially transforming — to give glory to God.

In the morning there will be a panel on Church growth chaired by Mike Booker (author of Evangelism — which way now?).

The panel members:

Bishop Angaelos

(Coptic bishop focusing on the many dimensions of growth, especially spiritual)

Bishop Graham Cray

(an expert on fresh expressions of Church, chair of Soul Survivor )

Paul Griffiths

(active in outreach to the unchurched, on the Archbishop of Canterbury’s college of evangelists)

Jane Litchmore-Grant

(the Church of God of Prophecy, mission in the local community from a Pentecostal perspective)

Clare Ward

(the Home Mission Desk of the Roman Catholic Bishops’ conference of England and Wales)
In the afternoon there will be a series of informative and stimulating groups looking at practical ways of engaging with Church growth.
